Audiences got their first look at the new Broadway cast of the smash hit musical Les Miserables today as the gang took over Times Square and performed ‘One Day More’ live on Good Morning America. Led by Canuck Ramin Karimloo (who just finished playing Jean Valjean in the critically acclaimed Toronto production of Les Mis) the ensemble performed one of the iconic hits in front of a studio audience and millions of Americans watching from their living rooms.
The new 25th Anniversary Production of Les Miserables received rave reviews from critics and fans alike during its three month run in Toronto – being praised not just for the outstanding cast but also the stunning visual and directorial changes that have been made to the show that many know and love. Using paintings by author Victor Hugo, the creative team have re-imagined the show and added in gorgeous new set pieces and scenery, costumes and staging that make the show strike an emotional chord like never before.
Watching the GMA performance I was filled with pride and emotion for ‘our’ Canadians who have made the trip to the Great White Way (some of whom are making their Broadway debut). They did us incredibly proud in Toronto, and I can’t wait for NYC to experience that ‘Canuck Magic’. Be sure to check out the video to see Canucks Ramin Karimloo (Valjean), Samantha Hill (Cosette), Cliff Saunders (Thenardier), Aaron Walpole and Melissa O’Neil join Broadway cast members Nikki M James (Eponine), Caissie Levy (Fantine), Will Swenson (Javert), Andy Mientus (Marius) and more!
