Aother Canuck has joined the barricades! Samantha Hill has just been announced to be taking over for Charlotte Maltby in the role of Cosette in the Broadway production of Les Miserables which opens this March.
Hill had been performing on Broadway in The Phantom of the Opera prior to the Toronto engagement of Les Miserables, which effectively brought her home to the Great White North. She received stellar reviews for her performance as Cosette, and will join fellow Canucks Melissa O’Neil, Aaron Walpole, Cliff Saunders and Ramin Karimloo on the Great White Way when the show opens in March of this year.
The new 25th Anniversary Production of Les Miserables opened in Toronto in October of 2013 to rave reviews, and played to nearly sold out houses for its entire run. Featuring stunning new visuals and staging, the production takes the classic story and invigorates it with exciting changes that will surprise and delight die hard fans and is sure to help build a whole new generation of ‘Mizzies’.
Reps from the show have declined to comment on the reason for Maltby’s departure at this time.
