Soulpepper has had a tremendously successful few years – and they’re building on that success while infusing more musical inspiration into their already fabulous programming.
While many people know Soulpepper primarily for their interpretations of classic texts and works, they’ve also garnered success with brand new projects, such as the massive hit Kim’s Convenience (which is going to get the TV and movie treatment after a successful Canadian tour). Another new adventure for them is their new concert ‘Salon’ series. The shows were devised as ‘concert travelogues’ and they will feature various movements in the history of twentieth century music.
Mike Ross helms the project, and anyone who has witness his contributions to the Global Cabaret Festival can attest to the beautiful musical arrangements he can come up with. The CBC’s Tom Allen hosts, and the casts comprise Soulpepper company members and special guests.
The inaugural salon is tonight at 7:30PM and is called BERLIN TO BROADWAY. It promises to explore two very different musical styles and time periods, starting in 1920s Berlin and featured work from Brecht and Weill and then heading to early Broadway and featuring classics from Cabaret, songs from Randy Newman and more.

BERLIN TO BROADWAY plays tonight at 7:30PM and Saturday Feb 15th at 1:30PM. The second installment of the series will be titled ABOARD THE ORIENT EXPRESS and will play Feb 25th at 7:30PM and Feb 26th at 1:30PM
